I am primarily a musician and sound artist – I was Professor of Creative Music Technology at BSU for over 20 years and maintain an active practice as a gigging and recording musician. I’m particularly interested in the immersive properties of sound, and play an active part in the Immersive Audio Network.

In addition, I’m really interested in audiovisual practice and, again, regularly produce my own work in this vein. Most of my research/academic writing centres on this – I am currently working on several book chapters, etc. – and for many years ran the ‘Seeing Sound’ visual music symposium at BSU.

As well as working on my own, I am a keen collaborator, working in interdisciplinary projects involving dance and arts/science crossover in particular.

Finally, I have an interest in drone light shows (as a particularly spectacular kind of AV show!) – I worked with Celestial on the MyWorld project Celestial Live, and now work as Head of Creative with Bristol-based startup HVN Labs, developing a next-generation hardware and software platform for the drone shows of the future.
