We’re proud to release the annual Studio survey of Residents, and the stats this year around income and business growth are truly remarkable, and a testimony to the great work happening in The Studio.

The Studio Residents’ Survey 2025 statistics in brief
These statistics focus on economic outcomes for The Studio Resident survey respondents.
General Contentment
- 94% of respondents say that The Studio has met their expectations, a 14% increase from 2024.
- 100% would recommend The Studio
Economic and Growth Statistics
Innovation and development
- 49% of respondents created new products or services, a 10% increase from 39% from 2024
- 51% gained or created new freelance work
- 54% engaging with new technologies, an increase of 11% from 2024
Organisational growth and evolution
These statistics indicate that organisations are growing and evolving:
- 42% have grown their turnover
- 39% have expanded their operations
- 50% are Limited Companies, an increase of 13% from 2024
- 50% are 2-5 person businesses, an increase of 7% from 2024
Income generation and growth
- 55% of respondents say that their Studio-based practice is their main source or sole source of their income, and increase of 16% from 39% in 2024
- 64% received funding or investment, an increase of 13% on 2024 and 3% on the year before. 27% have not received funding, however, positively, this is reduced from 32% last year and 40% the previous year.

The trend indicates that more Residents are having success with their funding applications and investment pitches year after year with fewer being unsuccessful or working on unfunded projects. However, feedback would also indicate that numerous Residents who applied for grants on a regular basis are opting for commercial income.
- 65% earning a living from their Studio-based practice/business, a significant 22% increase from 2024
