Cluster Lunch: Immersive Creators & Performers

BOOK NOW

Simon Taylor is a visual artist and creative photographer exploring themes of nature, place and environment through sketching, printmaking, and both still and moving image. His practice often involves collaboration with community based environmental and wellbeing groups, creating reflective work that encourages a deeper connection with the natural world.

The Project: Breathe — Sound and Stillness is an early stage project exploring how immersive moving image and spatial sound can create moments of calm, presence and reflection within healthcare and wellbeing environments. The project considers how natural environments, captured through moving image and binaural or ambisonic sound, can be translated into quiet sensory experiences within interior spaces.

The session will begin with a short presentation of Simon’s current practice, including work from a recent tree planting project and community-based activities, followed by an introduction to Breathe. This will be followed by an informal and participatory discussion with a collaborative mind mapping exercise. The aim is to explore ideas, share knowledge and help shape the future direction of the project.

Held on the fourth Tuesday of every month, this is an informal opportunity to meet other residents and hear from local speakers working in your area. Join us to share ideas, chat about upcoming projects, and bring your packed lunch!

We’d like to start every lunch with a brief provocation or presentation from an attendee – so if you have something you’d particularly like to talk about, share for feedback or ask for help with – please email Rachel Pownall ahead of the event – r.pownall@bathspa.ac.uk.
