BFI CREATIVE CHALLENGE FUND– For designing and running development programmes for UK creatives. £12k to £150k. Apply by September 9th. 

Learning Through Making, a new fund from Freelands Foundation – Provides grants of up to £25,000 for visual art education projects that creatively engage audiences with the process of making and exploration of materials. Deadline: 11 September, midday 

Guardian Documentaries and arte.tv have joined forces on a new fund to support filmmakers making documentary shorts, exploring the theme of Democracy at Stake in Europe.  One winning project will receive £10,000 in production funding, editorial and creative support from both organisations and distribution across Guardian and arte.tv platforms. Deadline: 14 September  

The British Academy – SHAPE Involve and Engage – The British Academy is inviting proposals for innovative public engagement activity for SHAPE Involve and Engage 2027-2028. We are searching for ambitious projects led by the brightest and best researchers and delivered in partnership with a GLAM organisation (gallery, library, archive or museum). This year, the scheme will also welcome collaborations with performing arts organisations. Funds of up to £8000 will be awarded to projects which actively engage the public with humanities and social sciences research using creative and forward-thinking approaches. Callout opens: Monday 1 June 2026 Callout closes: Tuesday 15 September 2026 

Creative UK are offering support for companies working in moving image for storytelling, film, TV, games, animation and immersive industries. Organisations can apply for grants up to £2,500 to work with specialists on strategy, marketing, IP or monetisation. Deadline: Next round 29th September 

The Northern European Mobility Opportunity (NEMO) is open for applications from early stage artists, practitioners or organisations who want to work with partners in the Nordic countries. The funding can support early stages of a new partnership and collaboration. Activity can be physical, digital or hybrid activity and awards are for DKK 75,000 (approx. €10,000). Deadline: 18 September  

Foundwork Artist Prize is an annual juried award to recognise outstanding emerging and mid-career artists working in any media. Honorees receive a $10,000 grant and studio visits with jurors who include acclaimed curators, gallerists, and artists. Application fee of $18. Deadline: 25 September   

Unlimited Partner Awards for Disabled Artists Totalling £280,000 Now Open 

Applications are open for Unlimited’s Partner Awards. There are 11 awards. Together they total £280,000. They’re available to disabled artists across England, Scotland, and Wales. Each award is delivered through a partnership with an organisation based in the UK. 

Ranging from £15,000 to £40,000, the awards support the creation of extraordinary new work. This spans theatre, performance, digital media, music, visual arts, and more. It covers everything from research and development through to presentation and touring. 

Each award is jointly funded by Unlimited and a partner organisation. This means direct investment from the arts industry from the start. Partners co-fund the work. They provide showcasing platforms and champion the artists they commission alongside Unlimited. This gives artists the opportunity to realise ambitious ideas while building meaningful sector relationships. Applications close on Monday 28 September 2026 

Daiwa Anglo-Japanese Foundation is a UK charity that awards grants to support closer links between Britain and Japan It supports projects in academic, professional, arts, cultural, scientific and educational fields. Deadline: 30 September  

From Harms to Harmonies – Exploratory Research Funding Application

We accept Exploratory Research Funding proposals that respond to our thematic calls. The focus of this funding is to progress academic research questions that have been co-created with partners who are well placed to understand the importance and impact of the questions and findings. 

What is the funding for? 

Brigstow’s Exploratory Research Funding is to develop and solidify growing ideas, partnerships and plans that have come out of the Connections stage of a theme. During this time the Brigstow and URI Operations teams will be on hand to support around potential funding schemes, our co-produced research toolkits, and to encourage thinking about how creative methods can be employed. We especially welcome applications from teams that might find it difficult to find early-stage funding because of the novelty of the ideas, methods or approaches. The period of research/making for this stage of the funding is expected to be a period of 8 months. 

Women in Film and TV Short Film Fund will award two filmmaking teams with comprehensive production packages comprising £25,000 in cash funding, £25,000 in kit rental, in-kind post-production support and bespoke mentoring from leading industry professionals.  Deadline: 5 October  

Doc Society RAD Fund is offering funding to support ambitious, independent feature documentary films and immersive projects intended for theatrical release, from both emerging talent and more established directors. Awarding funding between £5k – £150k.  Deadline: Opens at 1pm Monday 9th November | Closes at 1pm on Monday 21st December 

The UK Games Fund is offering grants between £50,000 – £150,000 for commercial games-for-entertainment content. Expressions of interest are open now. 

BFI FILM-MAKING FUND – Supporting original live action and animated feature filmmaking. £1m to £1.25m Apply by December 16 

 Ars Electronica and its partners are always on the lookout for creative minds who want to present their work to a wider audience. They have a number of open calls running at the moment. Including the ArtXScience Residency Open Call.  Deadline: various  

Artcry is closing and to mark the ending has announced a major grant of £5,000 for an artist/s to make work exploring the erosion of the right to protest in the UK. They’re looking for artists to respond to the changes in the right to protest in the UK in the past few years.  Deadline: None stated but they will reply to every application with feedback.  

BFI Screen Heritage Fund is now open for applications, offering funding for projects, skills development and training provision to organisations, and a bursaries to those working, or looking to work in the screen heritage sector.  Deadline: Rolling 

BFI National Lottery funding for immersive, screen-based projects – Support for immersive works across fiction and non-fiction, as well as large-scale projects intended for UK-wide exhibition – championing innovative approaches to interactive storytelling. Deadline: Rolling 

The Paul Hamlyn Foundation Migration Fund is open for applications. Supporting collaborations, alliances, and coalitions that build knowledge, solidarity, and power in our communities. For longer term projects funding of up to £60,000 per year (3 to 4 years) and £50,000 per year (5 years).  Deadline: Rolling  

Alternative Classical maintains an arts funding hub, which lists funding opportunities for both individuals and organisations and is regularly updated. It also hosts classical music jobs and opportunities (including trustee roles, music admin positions, composing call-outs and more) that is regularly updated.  Deadline: various  

Association for Art History is inviting curators, educators, academics and arts professionals to become art history school champions. The goal is to inspire the next generation — showing just how exciting, relevant, and diverse the subject can be. Deadline: non stated
