AHRC: A guide for the commercialisation of Creative Industries Research 

£250,000 of funding to transform the commercialisation of research in the creative industries for a university-led team to collaborate with investors, lawyers and founders to tackle early-stage barriers to commercialisation and develop a new sector-specific university commercialisation guide, with practical frameworks and best practice deal terms. Closes 15 October 2026 

Doc Society RAD Fund is offering funding to support ambitious, independent feature documentary films and immersive projects intended for theatrical release, from both emerging talent and more established directors. Awarding funding between £5k – £150k. Deadline: Opens at 1pm Monday 9th November | Closes at 1pm on Monday 21st December 

The UK Games Fund is offering grants between £50,000 – £150,000 for commercial games-for-entertainment content. Expressions of interest are open now. 

BFI FILM-MAKING FUND – Supporting original live action and animated feature filmmaking. £1m to £1.25m. Apply by December 16 

EPSRC: Next generation artificial intelligence (AI): explainable AI 

Up to £605,000 of funding for projects focused on speculative and high-risk fundamental research with the potential to deliver high reward and a step change in the UK’s capability to design, develop and deploy explainable AI technologies. Applications are particularly welcomed from early and mid-career UK researchers based at UK research organisations eligible for UKRI funding. Closes 20 October 2026. 

AHRC Catalyst awards: applicant-led mode 

Funding to support researchers without prior experience of leading a significant research project to accelerate their trajectory as independent researchers, to unlock their potential, build leadership and convenor experience. The full economic cost (FEC) of a project can be up to £300,000. AHRC will fund 80% of the FEC (open call). 

AHRC Curiosity Award: Applicant-led mode 

Funding for flexible awards to fund fundamental research that leads to new research agendas, networking activity and idea generation, which enables the development of further research opportunities and new research agendas. The full economic cost (FEC) of a project can be up to £100,000. AHRC will fund 80% of the FEC (open call). 

Arts Council England National Lottery Project Grants 

Grants of between £1,000 and £100,000 to support individual practitioners, community and cultural organisations working on arts, libraries and museums projects. Priority is currently given to Museum Unlocking Collections and Universal Library Offers projects (open call). 

British Film Council Film Festival XR Showcase Travel Grants  

Grants to help Short and Feature filmmakers, and XR creatives, travel to international events where their work is being screened (open call). 

BFI National Lottery Impact feature fund 

Grants to support features from experienced directors with productions budgets of £1m to £15m and debut feature directors with production budgets of £3.5 million to £15 million. Awards will recognise projects that have potential for impact across scale, inclusive representation, audience reach, environmental impact and economic impact of production outside London and the South East of England (open call).

Artcry is closing and to mark the ending has announced a major grant of £5,000 for an artist/s to make work exploring the erosion of the right to protest in the UK. They’re looking for artists to respond to the changes in the right to protest in the UK in the past few years. Deadline: None stated but they will reply to every application with feedback.  

BFI Screen Heritage Fund is now open for applications, offering funding for projects, skills development and training provision to organisations, and a bursaries to those working, or looking to work in the screen heritage sector. Deadline: Rolling 

BFI National Lottery funding for immersive, screen-based projects – Support for immersive works across fiction and non-fiction, as well as large-scale projects intended for UK-wide exhibition – championing innovative approaches to interactive storytelling. Deadline: Rolling 

The Paul Hamlyn Foundation Migration Fund is open for applications. Supporting collaborations, alliances, and coalitions that build knowledge, solidarity, and power in our communities. For longer term projects funding of up to £60,000 per year (3 to 4 years) and £50,000 per year (5 years). Deadline: Rolling  

Alternative Classical maintains an arts funding hub, which lists funding opportunities for both individuals and organisations and is regularly updated.
