Place Writing with Pin the Tale
Pin the Tale is a creative writing workshop that brings storytelling and place together through digital mapping.
Bath is teeming with stories… what are yours?
We’re inviting writers of all stripes to creatively explore the city through Pin the Tale, a digital mapping platform that brings storytelling and place together.
We’ll use Pin the Tale to guide us as we write poems and stories inspired by Bath’s hidden corners, personal landmarks, and meaningful spaces. Whether you’re just starting out or have been writing creatively for years, this workshop is a chance to imagine, connect, and discover new ways of seeing the city.
This workshop will be led by poet Bridget Hart and Pin the Tale creator Jack Lowe.
About Pin the Tale
Pin the Tale is a digital storytelling platform that uses the what3words system to inspire creative writing. Accessible via any web browser, it invites users to write poems or stories based on unique three-word addresses tied to real locations — and to explore others’ contributions through a literary treasure hunt.
What to bring:
- A smartphone, tablet or laptop with a web browser that can access the internet
- A digital image of a place in Bath (or somewhere else in the UK) that intrigues, interests, or inspires you. This could be somewhere meaningful to you, somewhere mysterious, or simply a place that sparks your imagination. We’ll use these images as starting points for our writing during the session.
