In The Meanwhile… A call to artists, designers and makers

The Covid-19 pandemic and subsequent economic crisis have seen a large number of shops in the city centre become empty. In The Meanwhile seeks to support the council to reinvigorate these spaces during this interim period.

The Opportunity
There are now 2 artist in residence places available with the project. Artists will be selected by a panel drawn from the partner organisations.
Artists and creatives are invited to submit proposals to test new ideas and create prototypes for light-based digital or sculptural work. This is ideal for artists who wish to test ideas for larger-scale work but lack the funds and time to do so.
The pieces will be used as part of a light trail around Bath in January 2022. You will be given access to studio space if needed, tools, equipment, and production support. as well as being paired with a creative technologist to assist in the technical aspects of working with light as a medium.

Requirements
You must be a mid-career artist based in or around the Bath and North East Somerset area. You do not need to have a background in light-based or technology-based work, but have a keenness to work in this medium to expand your practice. They are welcoming applications from communities who migrate in and out of Bath.

Key Dates

  • Submissions close on the 15th of October
  • Interviews will be on the 21st/22nd October
  • Residency Period: November/December (10 days/half days within this timeframe)
  • Exhibition period: January
