Bashart Malik is an immersive artist, filmmaker and cinematographer. Currently he is working with a team of carefully selected specialists to develop and prototype innovative AI, to bridge the gap between community and technology of the future. The community-centred project will utilise IBM’s Watson and AI capabilities to build a groundbreaking technology from the ground up, challenge intersectionality, support law firms, criminologists and most importantly the public, help marginalised communities and those who have suffered bias or extremist viewpoints. His filmography work combines visual craft with a powerful commitment to social justice. His upcoming project investigates the growing use of predictive policing technologies and their disproportionate impact on marginalised communities.

With over 20 years producing music videos, features and commercials, his directing work challenges misinformation using cinematic storytelling. Watch his cinematography in cinema releases such as ‘Golden Years’ for Moli Films, Channels 4’s short form strand ‘Random Acts’ and an extensive range of music videos, TV commercials and features. Known for delivering immersive screening events and is developing a Bath-based youth project, using innovative tech. Bashart is also collaborating with artists for BBC’s New Creatives.
