Naomi is an immersive theatre and installation artist. She has been making playful, playable and improvised performances since 2007. Since 2018 she has incorporated technologies like binaural audio, RFID readers, 3D graphics and WebXR/Virtual Reality. Naomi has worked as a filmmaker, theatre writer, director and performer. In 2025 she completed her PhD submission dealing with the exchange of nonverbal communication and emotional expression in ‘remote live’ performance experiences.
She recently formed a new theatre company, ‘Smish Theatre’, with long-term collaborator China Fish. The two secured the first inaugural Forkbeard Fantasy Award and are currently developing their new show ‘Winning At Life’, which both incorporates and satirises the pervasive effects of technology on our lives. Naomi works part time as a Creative Technologist at The Studio as well as being a Resident. In that role she has taught and facilitated with all the kit in the cupboards, including designing and delivering last year’s ‘Intro To Motion Capture’ course.
