Studio Innovation Fund 6: Final Sharing Event

BOOK HERE

Join us at The Studio to celebrate the outcomes of this year’s Studio Innovation Fund (SIF) partnerships.

SIF awardees Second ChanceGlitter Heart Immersive Labs and Play & See Hospital Edition, will be there to share their journeys.

So come along and find out about the exciting work they have been doing ahead of the next SIF 7 call due to go live in early October.

Play & See Hospital Edition: a collaboration between Studio Resident, American-British Composer Charlie Hooper-Williams and Frankie Simpkins, musician-in-residence for Art at the Heart at Bath’s Royal United Hospital (RUH), supported by Hetty Dupays, Art & Design Manager, RUH. Play &See is an interactive piano and live-visuals system that turns music into real-time imagery, inviting people to create sound and visuals through play. The SIF funding enabled Charlie to collaborate with Frankie and create a prototype of a portable, wipe-clean cabinet for use with plug-and-play set up ensuring ease of use for patients and hospital staff.

Glitter Heart Immersive Labs
: a tech-led, practice-based pilot supporting older female, trans and non-binary artists (40+) based in BANES to explore immersive media through autobiographical live Art. Led by Liz Clarke, who has 20+ years in participatory live art, and Studio Resident, Naomi Smyth, with 20+ years of creative tech and theatre expertise, the project built digital fluency, artistic confidence and sector networks, strengthening community for older artists.

Second Chance: a partnership between Studio Residents Eirine Lampiri, an interdisciplinary artist, Producer and practiced-based researcher, and artist and creative technologist Joseph Wilk, working with Dr Harry Wilson, an artist-researcher focusing on live art, performance, digital art and new media. The SIF enabled them to undertake R&D on Second Chance, an XR role playing game about grief, loss and connection. The R&D sessions allowed them to iterate on the narrative concept and game mechanics drawing on expertise from wellbeing specialists, death doulas and experts in interactive narrative.
